Fall 2017 Hair Trends

Fall is all about change. The leaves are changing, the temperature is changing, and of course, it is also a great opportunity to change up your hair. The experts at Rinaldo’s have put together some of our favourite Fall 2017 hair trends that are sure to leave a lasting impression.

Long Layers:

If you’re looking to keep your length for the Fall, now is the time to try long layers with slightly shorter pieces around your face. This style not only adds dimension, but it will also help make your hair look long and sleek. Plus, layers will make your ends stay full and healthy throughout the dry winter months.

Ash Blonde:

Believe it or not, greyish undertones have become a major hair trend this Fall. And for good reason! This fusion of silver and blonde hues is a gorgeous way to add depth and dimension to your hair, no matter the style. It is flattering on any array of skin tones, and is sure to make your eyes pop, especially with a bold smoky eye.

Waves:

Casual loose waves, on any length, are the perfect touch to finish off your Fall look. Waves are a simple and effortless way to enhance your style, without being too hard on your hair. To achieve this look, just ask your stylist to softly razor in some layers to your hair. Loose waves are guaranteed to be an instant upgrade to your hairstyle.

Balayage:

Looking for something natural and low maintenance? Despite gaining popularity this summer, balayage is the hair trend of Fall 2017. This highlighting technique creates a soft, natural-looking effect that is easy to maintain as the temperature drops. It’s subtle, low maintenance, and most of all, gorgeous.

Go back to school in style with the latest hair and beauty trends

Back to school season is officially upon us. Whether you’re ready or not, this is a great opportunity for you to try out a fresh new look. We’ve taken the latest hair and beauty trends to help you shine inside and out on your first week back in school.

Balayage: Looking for something natural and low maintenance? One of this year’s most sought after trends, balayage, is a technique for highlighting in which the dye is painted on to create a soft, natural-looking effect. Balayage is incredibly versatile and can work on a variety of hair lengths, textures, and colors – making it one of the most flattering looks for all women.

Boho waves: Beachy waves or curls are universally adored by red carpet stars and everyday beauty lovers. The perfect option for any day, loose curls add body and dimension to your hair without making it look like you tried too hard. This look is quick and easy, can be done with or without heat, and will boost your confidence instantly.

Medium length: Thinking of cutting your hair? There’s no better time for a dramatic change than back to school. Shoulder length haircuts are all the rage this year – and for good reason. This flexible haircut is chic, sophisticated, and easy to style.

Ice blonde: While balayage offers a natural look, ice blonde is for the more daring. This hot trend is quickly taking over. To create an icy blonde you need a highlight tint with super ashy undertones. It’s a bold look and one that will take some maintenance, but it will get you noticed for all the right reasons.

How often should you get your hair cut?

Split ends, tangling, weight – these are some telltale signs that it’s time to book an appointment for a haircut.

So how often should you cut your hair? We’ve all heard that we should go every six to eight weeks, but does this rule really apply to all hair textures and lengths? Here’s how to know when it’s time to visit the hair salon based on length and style.

Medium to long

The longer your hair is, the more fragile it often is. We recommend getting a haircut every six to eight weeks to maintain length. Even if you’re trying to let it grow, you should still try to trim it every eight to ten weeks. It’s long enough to let your hair grow in length and short enough to keep maintain the shape and texture. If your hair is more prone to split ends or you have a lot of chemical treatments done, cuts every eight weeks will help keep your hair healthy.

Curls and textures

For curls, waves, or textures our stylists suggest quarterly haircuts – at most 12 weeks between cuts. Textured hair tends to naturally be quite dry and crave moisture. This means that the time between washes is almost just as important as cutting your hair. If you want to preserve or grow out your length, ask your hairstylist to remove a quarter inch or less at each visit. This will ensure there’s always more growth than the amount you’re cutting.

Short and structured

If you have a short, specific style like a bob, pixie cut, or bangs than you should aim every three weeks. Your hair usually grows about half an inch per month, so more frequent cuts would help maintain a sleek length and shape.  If you’re ready to grow your hair out, you can wait longer (up to four to six months before your first trim) and then every six-twelve weeks after that.

Bangs

Strong, blunt, heavy, straight: If any of these words describe your fringe, a quick trim every other week will keep the look tight. If your bangs are more of the side swept, wispy variety, you can probably stretch out your trims a little longer.

There’s no one answer about how often you should get a hair cut, but depending on your hair and what your end goal is, there is a sweet spot that’s perfect for you.
